Who originated the idea of lovers and couples holding hands or arms while walking together?

Who was the first person to come up with this idea as a practice between couples? If this question is too hard to answer, Then in which country was the idea first created and practiced?

Thank you for your help!Who originated the idea of lovers and couples holding hands or arms while walking together?
This (despite some of the mocking answers) is not a silly question.

Linking hands or arms is often a public declaration of a physical union, though of course families sometimes do it, especially with children. Not every culture nor every period has gone in for it - here in Britain (I have no evidence for their countries of origin) you see relatively few of Indian/Pakistani descent doing it. In our own country until the early modern period, even husbands and wives of the upper class would not hold hands, though (in all classes) it was, regardless of the existence or otherwise of a bond, normal to offer an arm for a woman to lean on as you walked together.

We know (from Roger Ascham) that in the time of Elizabeth I young people walking out or in the dance would link up ';betokening matrimony'; but I can't think of evidence of the custom in England before then. It must of course go back some way before the first literary reference. Racking my brains, I also remember a marginal illustration in the Bayeux tapestry showing a naked woman and a man who is physiologically ready (and how!) to couple with her. If memory serves, the couple are either holding hands or making a gesture in that direction - but since they are on the point of actual lovemaking, perhaps this is a different situation and doesn't answer your question.

In some countries even husband and wife do not walk together. I have seen wives trailing along behind their husbands like ill-trained dogs who do not know how to walk properly at heel - this always grates on me, coming as I do from a liberal Western culture, but the people concerned are of course used to it.

Any social historians out there with more detailed information? I've got interested.Who originated the idea of lovers and couples holding hands or arms while walking together?
It orginated in Ethiopia. Marvin and LaToya were the first to be sighted. They were so happy with each other that it showed and it caught on. Marvin went on to become a great basketball player for team Ethiopia under King David. LaToya went on to a fair career as a singer.
I think it was Noah but this can not be confirmed for sure.
Adam and Eve (lol)
