Why is my husband getting paid so little compared to other military couples?

My husband is an E4 stationed in Okinawa. I live on Guam with my parents. Why is it that our friends, also married and living in different areas (eg.Texas) are getting paid more than my husband who is of higher rank? Why is my husband getting paid so little compared to other military couples?
Well it can't have anything to do with BHA seeing as how both you and your friends are in the same condition, not living in the same area as your husbands.

It could be he owes someone money and they have garnished his pay (which is allowed), perhaps a long past due bill he didn't tell you about. Why is my husband getting paid so little compared to other military couples?
Have him talk to the PS's and see what's going on
Lets, see ..if the friend's husband;s are higher rank, they will get paid more. It is also possible they are getting some sort of bonus pay for what they do. Another thing that can affect pay is BAH. If you are not living with your husband and he is living on base, they he would get what is called differential BAH determined by where you are currently living. BAH for Gaum is probably lower than for TX, so he could get less.
your BAH is based off of zip code, not how many dependants you have.
It depends on the dependants and the area they are in (Housing allowance) and if you live on or off post. You are living with your parents so you are probably not getting a housing allowance because you are not living together, and you don't have no children, and sometimes they get more depending on time and rank, I had six years reserves behind me, compared to most Specialist I worked with and active duty time as a Specialist but because of my dependants and my reserve time, I made more money then any other Specialist in my section, even if they had more dependants. So housing allowance + were you live+ time and rank + if you have colloege behind you as well + dependants = your pay.
With you being in Guam and your dh in Okinawa you will not be getting BAH but OHA - Overseas Housing Allowance. This will be based on the rent that you are playing, not a rate set on the price in your area. So if you aren't paying rent then he won't be getting OHA. If your friends are in Texas and are living out in town then they will be getting BAH which will make their pay higher. While he is an E4, the friends that you have could be E3 but with more years in as well. The pay doesn't just depend on the rate/rank but also on the # of years in. Then there is how many dependents they are claiming on their taxes. Are they getting any other pay like Recruiter pay, Sea Pay, Submarine pay, etc.. Those can add up too so it may seem like they are getting more than your dh.
All ranks get paid the same base pay depending on how many years you've been in. E-4 2yrs and E-4 2yrs get paid the same base pay now if the E-4 has 4yrs then it is different they get paid more. Now BAH is a totally different that all depends on where you live. My husband and I are stationed in AZ now are BAH is $1043.00 we are PCSing to Hawaii in April and now are BAH is going to be $2400 so of course that's going to make a big change in our pay. Does he even get BAH? If he does it would say on his LES. That is the only reason I think they would get paid more.
Jill C nailed it. Why are you asking us this instead of asking your husband? Hopefully, your husband knows how to read a paychart and knows whether he is being paid correctly or not. I don't understand why you are asking this on Yahoo versus just asking your husband.
Military pay is made up by several different things

First is Base pay...determined upon rank(the e-4 e-3 thing) and years in.

Second is BHA or basic housing...which is deterimined upon where the dependents are living. the military looks at how much it is to pay for an apartment/utilies in each area. b/c it varies from area to area. For example norfolk va, you get 1000 a month, CA 2,000

my guess is that the BHA is very low in Guam, there for he isnt getting a lot of money for BHA
your husband's base pay should be higher if he is a higher rank and has been in longer. Perhaps they have more dependents and therefore, less taxes taken out. Maybe their BAH is higher. Maybe the other couple has a special skill identifier that qualifies for an extra pay. Maybe it just seems as though your husband gets paid less because he has more allotments coming out. Unless I have the two LES's side by side, I can't explain the discrepancy to you.

Check out the current paycharts according to your husband's rank and time in service as well as any other pay's he is entitled to and make sure he is receiving the correct amount. If not, head up to finance to correct it.
You should take it up with the CO
COLA (Cost Of Living Allowance) is different at each duty station.
He gets paid Basic allowance for housing based on where you reside.

The cost of housing is more in Texas than in Guam, so people with dependents living there get paid more for housing.
I was over there at one time spent about 6 yrs there. Anyway there could be a coup,le of things. How long have you been married? Also he is living in the barracks ans you with your folks. that will cut some things back a little. Maybe the paper work has not made it through the command yet for dislocation, dependents, all that stuff to get going, what kind of allotments does he have coming out. How long has he been there? Did he just pick up the rank. hi so des, ne hong go walk a lure
Financial Office can answer that question for you.
More dependents? Otherwise, go to your CO. Or you Finanace office. They should get you an answer right quick.
He must be non-white. The U.S. military is lead by all white males.
