Exactly how many gay couples have to marry before the sanctity of YOUR marriage is destroyed?

Is there a specific number? At what number of gay marriages does your marriage become less special?

I've heard all about how gay marriage destroys the sanctity of marriage, so I'm just looking for some specifics here.Exactly how many gay couples have to marry before the sanctity of YOUR marriage is destroyed?
One, recognized by the state in which we live. Part of the sanctity of marriage is the DEFINITION of marriage, for which we evidently need to amend the US Constitution.

Gay marriage is an abomination marrying an abomination in an unholy ceremony without proper authority, and it is despicable that this perversion is even a topic for public debate.

GOD instituted marriage when he made Eve for an helpmeet for Adam, and no man has authority or jurisdiction to change what God started.

Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Pro 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

It is a compliment to our democracy that the issue of gay marriage has failed on the ballot in all 31 states where it has been voted on, and it is an insult to the world of Yahoo their answerers lack moral courage or direction on this issue; and that lack of knowledge of right and wrong is demonstrated by other answerers to this question.

Five states have legalized gay marriage - starting with Massachusetts in 2004, and followed by Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Iowa - but all did so through legislation or court rulings, not by popular vote: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/11/0鈥?/a>

Nevertheless, what is right vs. wrong is not determined by popular vote or court decree---God sets the standards. Everyone who is in favor of gay marriage is free to take it up with God when you meet him.

In Christ,

John the BaptistExactly how many gay couples have to marry before the sanctity of YOUR marriage is destroyed?
I will answer your questions in the order in which they were asked:

I don't think this question can be answered by me because I do not think the sanctity of marriage will be destroyed by gays being allowed to marry.

I cannot speak for anyone but myself, but I am against gays marrying. However, it is not because it will destroy the sanctity of marriage in America or anything as shallow as that. It is only because I am a professing Christian and I see it clearly taught in the Bible (as I interpret it) that homosexuality, along with a host of other sins that fall under 'sexual immorality' as evil in the sight of God. And if evil is permitted by a government, than that government has opened itself up to the judgment that comes from God. I do not care for the sanctity of what marriage is for others in this country. I do not claim America as God's nor do I believe God is partial to America. I only see that when a nation dives further and further into sin, the judgment of God comes upon it, and since I live in the same country, I would prefer to keep the judgment of God from ever coming to it. I understand there are many more sins allowed by Americans on a daily basis other than homosexuality and that the Christian church in America isn't exactly the holiest of all organizations in the world, but I could tell you that is because of a lack of church discipline, which is a whole other topic and teaching from the Bible.
I've been married to the same man for nearly 35 years. No number, no matter how large nor how small, of gay marriages are going to rattle the sanctity nor the security of my own.

I honestly believe that the whole gay marriage issue is a straw man for the conservatives. As long as they can fight that battle, they don't have to deal with issues of race, class,or gender equity, nor fairness and access...

Issues of gay marriage and abortion are fires the conservative politicians can light and allow to distract the population. They know they never have to do anything about the issues, but they can milk them endlessly for contributions and votes.

My answer still isn't specific, but it is emphatic. A number of gay marriages that would impact my marriage simply does not exist.
Any two consenting adults should be given the opportunity to get married. It's divorce that I have a problem with. People preaching bigotry about a gay couple wanting to get married for the first time, when they themselves have been married numerous times is contradicting- ';till death do us part...'; ';in sickness and health, for richer or poorer';. Oh it's ok for a straight man to get married and divorced 8 times over but that queer shouldn't be allowed to do it once, that would ruin the sanctity of... Of what, divorce. Divorce is what ruins the sanctity of marriage- errr duh!

To say that this gay man, lesbian woman, transsexual whatever doesn't have the rite to love and commitment, is stupid. Because as most people here have stated already, a marriage is between two people, and it doesn't affect anyone else but those two people.
Nothing the gay community does affects my life. I am not threatened nor is my life impeded in any manner because homosexuals are able to get married. There is no reason why the govt. should become involved in what people do as a family that two people choose to make. Nothing says marriage has to be one male or one female. Marriage in the US is a tax. What sanctity, what holiness is found in a tax? Who cares if homosexuals feel compelled to pay a tax so that their partner may enjoy health benefits or life insurance benefits? People should be free to live with whomever they so choose without interference, especially from the federal government and the local do-gooders at the neighborhood church! Leave homosexuals alone! Everyone should be so lucky to have someone in their lives!
My marriage is between my husband and I. I can't see how the number of homosexual people getting married would affect that.

I still think marriage is about love between two people. It wouldn't matter to me if the statistics of homosexual marriage to heterosexual marriage changed in proportion.

And I hope it doesn't matter to others, either.
about the same number of people who marry for money. except, of course, homosexuals are an abomination (ya know, like shell fish) so it may be worst in the eyes of god therefor it may take less same sex marriages until the earth implodes and mankind as we know cease to exists.

I'm not a bigot. Just stating the facts.

This is my favorite thing ever:

Top 17 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong

17. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

16. Gay culture is a new fad created by the liberal media to undermine long-standing traditions. We know this is true because gay sex did not exist in ancient Greece and Rome.

15. There are plenty of straight families looking to adopt, and every unwanted child already has a loving family. This is why foster care does not exist.

14. Conservatives know best how to create strong families. That is why it is not true that Texas and Mississippi have the highest teen birthrates, and Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire have the lowest. This is a myth spread by the liberal media.

13. Marriage is a religious institution, defined by churches. This is why atheists do not marry. Christians also never get a divorce.

12. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why our society has no single parents.

11. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

10. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

9. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

8. Gay marriage should be decided by the people and their elected representatives, not the courts. The framers checked the courts, which represent mainstream public opinion, with legislatures created to protect the rights of minorities from the tyranny of the majority. Interference by courts in this matter is inappropriate, just as it has been every time the courts have tried to hold back legislatures pushing for civil rights.

7. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because ';separate but equal'; institutions are a good way to satisfy the demands of uppity minority groups.

5. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

4. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

3. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

2. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

1. METEORS and VOLCANOES.
who cares what goes on in our neighbours bedroom? honestly, i could care less who gets married and who doesn't. i'm just plain tired of the continual bombardment of b.s. on the subject -surely there are more important issues in our world than whether homosexuals and/or lesbians are allowed to marry.

as long as couples, whether they are straight, gay, transgendered or blue with orange polka-dots, aren't canoodling in public i just don't care!

lets move on to something important!
Marriage has no sanctity. Not since no-fault divorce. In modern society, marriage is merely a temporary arrangement to keep house together until one or the other wants to get out. Gays wanting to marry is pathetic, but it has no effect on what is rotting from the inside anyway.
If we are going to redefine it - and open it up to same sex adults Consider: Why is it so important that it be between just two people? Why shouldn't bigamy also be allowed?

Answer:

I have been doing geneological research. Whether or not it is admitted here, there is something very basic and solid about the bond between one man and one woman - especially when they commit to each other and build a home and fill it with children. You all want to weaken the foundations of society. What foundations still remain after the 1960s. I care too much about the future of my country to be intimated by the present abusive climate in our culture towards anyone holding conservative values.
the number is 78.923 marriages.

at this number of gay marriages, swiper (from dora the explorer), will come and steal your wife. he will take her to the mountain where dragons are born. yes. you will never be able to retrieve her, for she will be underground in a cube of ice. im sorry.

also, there is no such thing as mushrooms.

amen.
Over nine thousand.

Personally, I don't care how many gay couples get married, but I want them to have the right to do so if that's what they want. I don't get why people are so concerned about what consenting adults do in private- why do they care enough to try and stop them having legal rights? it's stupid.
In Maryland they are making plans to approve gay marriage, the catholic Church said that if that happens they will stops charity for the poor. I was like wow what kind of institution hold the poor ransom, if the government does not do what they want it too.
Actually marriage has been crazy for years.. CONSIDERING marriage is not just the ceremony... but actually having relations.. as in sex... so homosexuals cannot actually get marriaged not in the way GOD constructed it... they can only in some states get LEGALLY MARRIED... not TRUE marriage... So in turn NO bodies marriage can be destoried by anyone... Just yourself...
Gay marriage only helps strengthen the sanctity of marriage. Gay people love each other just like straight people love each other. Not allowing gay marriage is actually what's destroying the sanctity of the institution.
Marriage was a gift from God. The sanctity of marriage was destroyed when power was taken from it by the state. We pervert everything. God won't recognize gay marriage because it was not granted by him but by the state.
That's absurd. What's so wrong about two people who are in love with each other getting married? Gay, straight, bi, transgendered... I mean, how would YOU feel if heterosexual marriages weren't allowed? Think about that.
Haha! The ';sanctity'; of my marriage? I don't believe there ever was such a thing, so I can't blame gays for it falling apart. I do, however, blame the Good Ol' Boys Club of America.
I don't care what they do but I have a problem at the way that the media uses gay marrige and gay issues in general as a divisive tactic to keep everyone fighting with each other.

Homewrecking little weasles
Forget the sanctity of my marriage. As soon as the 645213th gay marriage takes place Satans army will rise and the gay agenda will be released onto the world!!!!!?!?!?Q!?!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH鈥?br>

SATAN AND THE GAY AGENDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!?!?鈥?br>

NO ONE IS SAFE!!!!!!!!!
How can sanctity be used as a Definition if half of all marriages fail?

Let gays get married and experience the misery many us heterosexuals get to enjoy!
Sanctity?

My marriage was a complete and utter travesty with or without gay marriage.

Worst years of my life.

I could be the poster-child of anti-ANY-marriage advocates everywhere..
the only way a gay marriage could destroy the sanctity of my marriage, is if they married my husband, but then we are also talking about bigomy
How do two separate couples destory each other's marriage, minus cheating?

Impossible.
this is funny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyTQMFGWU_k
what the crap is wrong wit u gay ppl suck gay marriage is against the word of God u really need to get your priorities right get ur mind rite wat sanctity shut up and lose even the idea of it
At exactly 382,257 gay marriages Jesus annuls all breeder bondings.
Great question! I've been married for 28 years; I don't care if every gay couple on the planet gets married. It couldn't possibly affect our marriage.
If we are honest, we must admit that we DO NOT KNOW what the consequences of making gay marriage licit would be.

I personally am opposed to making gay marriage legal. I do not think that it was what God intended. I don't invent any hypothetical scenarios to justify my point of view. This is just what I believe to be true, and I mean no offense towards anyone.
Marriage is defined as between a man and his wife. There is honor in that which is why it is desired by homosexuals. If they succeed in getting it, it will change and some other word will define a proper marriage instead of a perversion of such.
