How can I support the statement that gay couples do have long-term relationship?

I'm writing a report on gay marriage and my teacher ask me to support their relationships. I'm gay but I don't have all the answers because I haven't been in a long term relationship so I don't know. I'm not being noisy but just need help. How can I support the statement that gay couples do have long-term relationship?
I'll give you a statistic:

Gay marriage is legal since 2003 in Belgium.

From 2003 till 2008 (a five year period) there were 5147 gay marriages. Their were a total of 147 divorces, a divorcement rate of 2.8%.

The same period for heterosexual marriages there were 254.990 divorces. This includes also of marriages of before 2003. A little bit of calculation now: 10 million inhabitants. a 40% is married: 4m /2(there are two persons) 2m marriages: 12.75% divorcement rate

of course it must be noted for the gay marriages that it were fresh marriages or people that wanted to marry for a long time and already had a long relationship before. How can I support the statement that gay couples do have long-term relationship?
your teacher is a dick lol. Straight marriage doesn't require that the marriage be GOOD. Proving that gay people have strong marriages and relationships, frankly, shouldn't be a prerequisite...it isn't for straight people...if it were, straight people would have to PROVE they are in love and will stay in love before they get married.

Anyways, if that's how its going to be though ( i would fight him on it lol ), i would look up any statistical information on length of gay coupling and also look up gay marriage statistics for Massachusetts since they started performing them years ago. Also use stats from countries abroad who have had gay marriage for awhile.
you can do ellen and portia..they been together for awhile, also rosie o donell has been together with her girl for awhile...you can look up famous gay stars or politicians who have been in long term relationship..i was with my ex for 2 1/2 years
Really the only way is to get statistics or some examples. Like if you have a gay uncle that has been in a relationship for a long time, mention that.
You should mention that gay relationships don't need to be legitimized by how long they last considering the divorce rate of hetero couples is 50% and they are allowed to get married..
